Herkimer diamonds are a unique variety of double-terminated quartz that occur exclusively in Herkimer County and the Mohawk River Valley of New York. In contrast to most quartz, which typically forms a single termination while attached to host rock, Herkimer diamonds crystallize freely within pockets of soft hydrocarbon. This growth environment enables the development of natural terminations at both ends. These crystals are valued for their exceptional clarity, often appearing water-clear due to their gradual formation in a stable geological setting.

Tanzanite is considered geologically rare, with estimates suggesting it is approximately 1,000 times rarer than diamond. In contrast to diamonds, which are distributed globally, tanzanite is found exclusively in a narrow region of the Mererani Hills in northern Tanzania near Mount Kilimanjaro.
The vivid blue-violet color of tanzanite results from a rare combination of heat, pressure, and vanadium during the tectonic processes that formed the Great Rift Valley. Due to the limited size of this deposit, tanzanite is regarded as a generational gemstone. Current estimates indicate that the supply may be exhausted within 20 to 30 years, and extraction already necessitates mining at depths exceeding 300 meters.
