Scolecite forms delicate white crystal needles in radiant sprays with a fine frost-like sparkle. Its name comes from the Greek word for worm because the fibres curl when heated. In modern crystal practice, it is chosen for meditation, gentle clarity, and easing stress.

Scolecite occurs at many zeolite localities, but large freestanding sprays are uncommon because its slender needles grow in cavities and break easily during extraction.
