Seraphinite is a rare gem-quality variety of clinochlore, prized for its signature feathery silver chatoyancy that resembles angel wings across its surface. True seraphinite is found only in the Korshunovskoye iron deposit in the Irkutsk Oblast of Eastern Siberia, Russia.
This distinct pattern forms through a rare combination of pressure, temperature, and mineral conditions that do not exist anywhere else. The mine is located in a remote, harsh Siberian environment where mining is physically difficult and costly. Furthermore, modern trade restrictions have further reduced access to supply, meaning that genuine high-quality seraphinite has become increasingly scarce on the global market.
